About Us

The mission of The Encyclopedia of Conservatism is to be a trustworthy, educational, and authoritative source for understanding conservatism. Conservatism has a bad reputation in the minds of many. Our aim is to change this reputation via education about why conservatives think the way they do.

It is our hope to increase the popularity of conservatism by creating a comprehensive knowledge source that is widely read and well regarded. Too many right-wing sources are hyper-partisan in nature and often fail to present conservatism in the positive, intellectual, and virtue-based fashion that it is.

Our 100+ volunteer authors are professors, lawyers, journalists, and students who have come together to see this mission through.

.

Our Model

Volunteers and supportive donors are how we can continue to provide education about conservatism.

Articles are written by volunteers and go through a rigorous review process to maintain a level of quality in accordance with the Encyclopedia’s mission. Authors are selected based off their expertise, writing skills, and alignment with our mission to educate the world about conservatism.

Our Guiding Principles

Accessibility

We are committed to making our content understandable and accessible everywhere to increase our scope of influence.

Quality

We are committed to maintaining an accurate representation of conservative ideas built on a foundation of facts and logic. Our articles are thoroughly researched and reviewed to ensure rigor.

Education

We are committed to educating conservatives, anti-conservatives, and everyone in between on what conservatism actually is. It is our belief that only through proper understanding will conservatism gain broad popularity.

Intellectualism

We are committed to explaining conservatism with an intellectual lens. Many people are conservative without understanding the underlying reasons. We aim to articulate those reasons and in doing so create a stronger conservative base.

Our story

When the Encyclopedia of Conservatism was founded in 2022, it was built to fix an issue: conservatism is misunderstood. Most institutions and most people don’t understand why conservatives believe what they believe. Instead, it is widely held that conservatives are mean, phobic, and uneducated. Regardless of how this came to be, the only way to fix it is to educate people about what conservatism actually is. So, the Encyclopedia was started in a bedroom with conservative education as its driving purpose. Educated conservatives were contacted from around the world were contacted, articles were written and revised, and the Encyclopedia was born. Now, there are over 100 volunteers working on the Encyclopedia from over 15 countries in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia. All of these volunteers are working together because of their desire to be understood, to make people understand, and to change the direction of the world.

Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.
