Introduction
David Joshua Rubin (born June 26th ,1976) is a prominent, American, conservative political commentator known for hosting The Rubin Report, a popular political talk show on YouTube and BlazeTV. He launched the show in 2013 as part of the The Young Turks (TYT) Network, a progressive political organization, but eventually left due to ideological differences. Rubin is gay and married to David Janet.
Over time, Rubin’s political views shifted from progressivism to classical liberalism and ultimately to conservatism. He has been a vocal critic of progressivism, the political left, and the Democratic Party. In 2022, Rubin officially registered as a Republican in Florida, solidifying his conservative affiliation. He has authored two books and continues to host The Rubin Report, where he provides a platform for discussions and interviews on a wide range of political and cultural topics.
Career
Rubin began his career in comedy in 1998, performing stand-up and working as an intern at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Over the years, Rubin was involved in various comedy projects, including hosting podcasts and television shows like Hot Gay Comics, The Ben and Dave Show, and The Six Pack.
In 2012, Rubin created his own YouTube channel called “Rubin Report” and joined The Young Turks, where he hosted a show with the same name. He eventually moved to Los Angeles and transitioned to different media platforms, including RYOT and Larry King’s Ora TV. In 2016, Rubin decided to run The Rubin Report independently and established affiliations with organizations like the Institute for Humane Studies.
As a political commentator, Rubin frequently appears as a speaker at Turning Point USA events and has been a guest on popular podcasts such as The Joe Rogan Experience and The Ben Shapiro Show. He gained attention for a video titled “Why I Left the Left” produced by PragerU. In 2020, Rubin published his book titled Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason, which became a New York Times Best Seller.
In December 2021, Rubin announced his move from Los Angeles to Miami, citing reasons such as dissatisfaction with California’s leadership and policies. His show, The Rubin Report, features interviews with a wide range of guests discussing topics such as freedom of speech, political correctness, foreign policy, and religion. Notable guests have included Sam Harris, Ben Shapiro, Steven Crowder, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and more. The Rubin Report has been available on BlazeTV, a conservative subscription video service, since 2019.
