Restricting gun rights may also disproportionately impact economically disadvantaged communities that rely on firearms for self-protection. Although American conservatives are perhaps the most ardent defenders of gun rights in the world, conservatives in other countries are often more pro-gun than their liberal or progressive counterparts.

Background Checks

Conservatives believe in background checks. The question is, what level of background check? On this topic, there is a wide variety of opinions amongst conservatives. Some think that minimal background checks are sufficient, just enough to keep violent felons away from guns. Whereas other conservatives believe that more stringent background checks are acceptable as long as law abiding, clean record citizens can acquire firearms relatively easily.
