Cornelis J. Schilt is Professor of History and Philosophy of Knowledge at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He was educated at Utrecht University (BSc Physics and Astrophysics, MSc History and Philosophy of Science) and Oxford University (DPhil (PhD) in History of Science) and has published extensively on Renaissance, Early Modern and Enlightenment science, scholarship, politics, economy, and religion. He is a Roman Catholic and lives with his family in the Flemish countryside.
